The OFC Pro League is leaving no stone unturned in a last-ditch attempt to get football fans to turn up to watch the final of the inaugural season at Eden Park on Sunday.
While the new competition has put footballers in Oceania in front of a global audience, it has struggled to attract spectators since kicking off in March, despite taking the games to Australia, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, the Solomon Islands, and New Zealand during the five round-robin games.
To make up for it, the OFC Pro League has slashed ticket prices by 50 percent, while children can watch the match for free.
An adult ticket will cost NZ$15.
The four teams set to battle for a place in the final are Auckland FC, South Island United, South Melbourne FC and Vanuatu United.
South Melbourne FC will take on Vanuatu United in the first semifinal at 1:30pm on Wednesday, before Auckland FC takes on South Island United in an all-New Zealand second semifinal at 6:30pm.
Both matches will be played at Go Media Stadium and streamed live on FIFA+.
South Melbourne FC finished top of the Leaders group with three wins out of three. Their semifinal opponents from Vanuatu – from the Challengers group – defeated Fiji’s Bula FC on Sunday in the seminfinal play-off match to set up the encoutner with the Melburnians.
Auckland FC, which finished the regular season as the top team having won 10 of its 14 matches, face its New Zealand rivals South Island United.
