Montjuïc Park (Parc de Montjuïc) in Barcelona is hosting Swab Barcelona 2026 from 8 to 11 October at Palau Victòria Eugènia. The independent contemporary art fair brings together galleries, artists and visitors on the mountain during the final day of its 2026 programme.

The event gives the park a current cultural focus beyond its museums, gardens and historic sites. It also places a major art fair within a landscape that combines exhibition venues, sports facilities and public green space.

Swab Barcelona runs at Palau Victòria Eugènia until 11 October

Swab Barcelona 2026 is the independent art fair listed by Barcelona City Council for 8 to 11 October. The council identifies Palau Victòria Eugènia as the venue and describes the fair as an experimental platform and meeting point for emerging artists and galleries in its Montjuïc Park agenda.

Europa Press reports that the fair is taking place from Thursday 8 October to Sunday 11 October at the palace within the Fira de Barcelona Montjuïc site. Its 2026 edition presents more than 180 artists from 22 countries across more than 60 exhibitors, giving the event an international scale while keeping its venue on the mountain itself. The programme includes general and emerging gallery sections, alongside OFF-SITE and other named strands, according to the 2026 fair report.

Art fair meets Montjuïc landscape shaped by 1929

The venue sits within a mountain that Barcelona City Council presents as a large green space equipped with cultural and sports facilities. The city’s official overview places the Magic Fountain among the principal entries to the mountain and records its construction for the International Exposition of 1929.

Montjuïc Castle was fortified in 1751 and is now a museum and cultural centre. The mountain also contains the National Art Museum of Catalonia, the Joan Miro Foundation, the Olympic and Sports Museum, the Mies van der Rohe Foundation and the Botanical Garden.

This setting changes the practical meaning of Swab Barcelona: the fair is not an isolated city-centre event, but one stop among museums, historic architecture, gardens and viewpoints spread across a large hillside. Palau Victòria Eugènia therefore connects the temporary programme with the wider cultural geography of the park.

Montjuïc Park links the fair with museums and gardens

The park includes gardens on different parts of the mountain, from the sea-facing Mossèn Costa i Llobera Gardens to Laribal Gardens and the gardens of the Greek Theatre. The official city description also identifies the southern slope as a network of paths with views across Barcelona.

Montjuïc is managed as a shared cultural and recreational area rather than a single enclosed attraction. Museums, gardens, tracks, pitches and the castle form a group of facilities, while the park’s operators coordinate through the Montjuïc Park Council.

Visiting Montjuïc Park: what travellers from Western Europe should know

  • Swab Barcelona 2026 runs from 8 to 11 October at Palau Victòria Eugènia within the Fira de Barcelona Montjuïc site.
  • The fair is the temporary activity covered here; the surrounding museums, gardens, castle and sports facilities are separate parts of the park.
  • Montjuïc is in Barcelona, Spain. The city council lists metro, bus, funicular and cable car connections for reaching and moving around the mountain.
  • The site is a large hillside park with roads, paths, gardens and viewpoints, so reaching different facilities involves movement across uneven outdoor terrain.
  • The park combines cultural venues with open green spaces, including Laribal Gardens, the Greek Theatre gardens and the southern-slope paths.
