However, Peñíscola responded almost immediately through Elías, and the remainder of the first half was a closely contested affair. Barça created the better chances and looked the more dangerous side, but a combination of wasteful finishing and an excellent performance from goalkeeper Acosta meant the teams went into the break level at 1-1.
