No violations of the Cultural Heritage Code and no damage to a historic or artistic property occurred during construction work at the Palau train station. Giovanni Tiveddu, head of the Technical Department of the Municipality of Palau, and Claudio Valentino, project manager, were acquitted by Tempio Court Judge Tommaso Andorlini “because the facts were not proven.”

The verdict came at the end of a six-year trial. At the center of the case was the demolition of the sidewalk on the Palau-Palau Marina narrow-gauge railway line, the Sassari-Palau railway (Trenino Verde).

The demolished work was not an asset of historical or artistic interest, according to the trial. The defense (lawyers Luca Montella and Sebastiano Chironi) demonstrated that there had been no violation of the Cultural Heritage Code.
