Tonga and Samoa have qualified for an invitation to the Netball World Cup.

Tonga Tala defeated Fiji 72-60 on Thursday to claim their third win at the Oceania Netball Championship in Nuku’alofa.

Tifaimoana Samoa beat the Cook Islands 72-50 in what was also their third win.

The final round of matches will be held on Friday, with the clash between Samoa and Tonga to decide the Oceania champion.

The Fiji Pearls also plays Papua New Guinea Pepes on Friday in a dead rubber.

World Netball’s head of events Kate Agnew said the invite means the teams have qualified in terms of results, but documentation still needs to be completed to make it official.

She said they will be sent an email and documentation to sign and confirm that they want to take the place up.

The Netball World Cup will be held in Sydney from 25 August to 5 September 2027.

Australia gets an automatic qualification invite as the hosts, and the team would have anyway as world number one.

New Zealand, Jamaica, England, South Africa and Uganda qualified for an invite based on the world rankings on 1 December 2025.

The remaining ten teams qualify to be invited through five regional qualifiers – for the Pacific, that’s now Samoa and Tonga; and Singapore and Hong Kong China have got an invite from the Asia qualifier.

Qualifiers for Africa, Europe and the Americas will be held this and next month.
