Dozens of people were injured in overnight and morning Russian attacks across Ukraine, while a Palau-flagged vessel was struck in the Odessa region, President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Facebook.
According to Zelensky, Russia attacked Ukrainian regions throughout the night and morning. In Kharkiv, a residential apartment building was hit, partially destroying the second and fourth floors.
Drone attacks also caused damage in Kyiv, including to residential buildings, communications infrastructure and petrol stations. Russian strikes destroyed a café and attempted to set fire to a food market in the capital.
In the Odessa region, Russian forces struck a Palau-flagged vessel. In the Zhytomyr region, an ice cream factory was damaged.
“Residential buildings were struck in the Sumy, Rivne, Kharkiv and Odessa regions. Critical infrastructure was attacked in the Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Khmelnytskyi and Zaporizhzhia regions. Emergency services are working wherever needed,” the president said.
Zelensky said dozens of people were known to have been injured. In Kharkiv alone, 28 people were injured, including nine children. There were also fatalities.
In the Kyiv region, two people were killed, one of them an Azerbaijani citizen.
The president thanked “everyone who is not remaining silent about what is happening in Ukraine, and everyone preparing concrete support packages for our country.”
“Clear decisions are needed. Air defence systems, energy support and assistance in covering budget deficits are what can genuinely strengthen Ukraine today and help our people endure,” Zelensky said.
