POLYPHONY invites us to explore the richness of choral singing in Catalonia from its very epicenter: the Palau de la Música Catalana. The rehearsal hall of the Orfeó Català, where the foundation stone of the Palau lies, embodies the institution’s founding purpose: choral singing and the central role of its artistic and social practice. Through a series of conversations moderated by journalist and music communicator Pere-Andreu Jariod, we will hear directly from the protagonists themselves, gaining a multifaceted perspective that reveals how deeply choral singing is rooted in Catalan culture and in the very essence of the Palau de la Música Catalana.
Regarding voice teachers: Vocal technique applied to choral singing: how to build a healthy, flexible voice that is integrated within the choral ensemble. The pedagogical work with singers of different levels and the relationship between technique and expressiveness. Current challenges in vocal training.
Regarding piano accompanists: Their discreet yet essential role, both in rehearsals and in concert. Throughout the conversation, we will explore the qualities required for this role, the understanding with the conductor, and their contribution to tuning and repertoire work.
