Prime Minister Hon. Matthew Wale will depart today for Palau to attend the Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting.
The meeting is scheduled for 31 August to 4 September.
In Palau, Prime Minister Wale will formally hand over the chairmanship of the Pacific Islands Forum to the President of Palau, Surangel Whipps Jr.
Prime Minister Wale is expected to address the Leaders Summit, where he will acknowledge Solomon Islands’ tenure as Forum Chair also acknowledging the leadership of his predecessor former Prime Minister Hon. Jeremiah Manele.

Forum Leaders will also engage in strategic discussions on the future governance of the Pacific regional system, with a focus on identifying key regional priorities and strengthening regional cooperation.
The Prime Minister will also participate in a series of regional and bilateral meetings on the margins of the Leaders Meeting.
