The fire that killed Palau worker Giorgio Menna may have been started by an overheated electrical appliance . It’s not out of the question that the 38-year-old victim may have inhaled carbon monoxide, which left him dizzy, or may have fallen while trying to leave his house in the Palau area.
The worker’s children—aged 9 and 12—tried to raise the alarm, ran out into the street, and called their grandfather . The man rushed into the house, but the fire and smoke had already engulfed the building, blocking his entry.
The State Police forensic team began its investigations late this afternoon. The investigation will clarify the cause of the fire and the reason for its rapid spread. The investigation is being coordinated by the acting Tempio Prosecutor, Alessandro Bosco.
