Eight swimmers from Palau are ready to create waves in the pool as the 2026 Oceania Swimming Championships kick off today at the Damodar City National Aquatic Centre.
Leading the team is head coach Jimmy Jonas, getting them geared up and ready to make a statement at this meet.
“We’re glad to be here; we’re loving the hospitality that the Fijian people are giving us, and we’re just amped up and getting ready,” he said.
Jonas is expecting stiff competition against their main competitor, Fiji, but remains confident in his team’s ability to rise to the occasion and secure a spot on the podium.
He also revealed a major objective is securing qualification spots for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, scheduled for July, with hopes that at least four swimmers will meet the required standards.
