The Government of the Republic of Palau has launched a new operating model for its national ship registry, while trusting Panos Kirnidis to lead the registry.
As informed, Palau Ship Registry has been contracted to manage day-to-day operations under a governance framework that emphasizes accountability, transparency, and alignment with international maritime standards. This follows a period during which the Ministry of Public Infrastructure and Industries temporarily oversaw the registry to ensure uninterrupted service for vessels flying the Palau Flag.
Throughout this transition, all marine regulations, circulars, statutory certificates, and seafarer documentation issued prior to the new arrangement remain valid and can be verified online or via QR code, providing continuity amid increasing global regulatory scrutiny.
Our focus is on providing a clear and robust framework that supports safe, responsible and compliant shipping while ensuring continuity and confidence for vessels flying the Palau Flag. The Government has confidence in entrusting Mr. Panos Kirnidis, who will lead this new chapter of Palau Ship Registry
… said Minister Charles Obichang
The Government confirmed that the new operating framework provides clarity and stability for shipowners, operators, and international partners, while ensuring the Palau Flag continues to meet the expectations of regulators, classification societies, and the wider maritime community.
I am honored to continue working with the Government of Palau in support of the Palau Ship Registry. Our clear objective is to provide reliable and professional service to shipowners, managers, and seafarers, combining effective digital tools with experienced and responsive support
… commented Panos Kirnidis.
