According to Ukrinform, Reuters reports this.
On Sunday, March 1, near the Musandam Peninsula in Oman, the oil tanker Skylight, flying under the Palauan flag, caught fire after an attack.
According to the Oman Maritime Security Center, there were 20 crew members on board – 15 Indian nationals and 5 Iranian nationals. Four of them were injured.
The incident occurred about 8 kilometers north of the port of Khasab in Musandam, after which all the crew members were evacuated from the vessel. The Oman Maritime Security Center did not specify the nature of the tanker’s damage.
The Musandam Peninsula, along with Iran, controls the Strait of Hormuz region – a strategic hub through which a significant portion of the world’s oil supplies passes. The incident underscores the importance and sensitivity of this region for global energy and maritime routes.
