Preliminary results show Niuean voters have returned a majority of their MPs to parliament.
Niue held its 2026 general election on Sunday NZT (Saturday in Niue).
A total of 44 candidates vied for seats in the 20-member Niue Assembly, which is made up of six common roll members and 14 village representatives.
PMN reports incumbent Prime Minister Dalton Tagelagi retained his Alofi South seat, securing 111 out of 221 valid votes.
New representatives were elected in the villages of Avatele and Tamakautoga.
The final official count is expected to be confirmed soon.
The next prime minister will be decided by a secret vote among the 20 elected MPs.
Niue is self-governing in free association with New Zealand.
