Francesca Valentino, a 46-year-old Italian woman, was killed in the fire at the Viva Wyndham Dominicus Beach Hotel (WH.N), the DAEH emergency service said in a statement. Three people were taken to medical facilities and six others were treated on site, DAEH said. Those affected included guests, visitors and emergency responders. Police say a report of alleged assault was initially lodged by the victim’s wife with the Internal Affairs Department on the 31st of March this year, and referred to CID for investigation due to the nature of complaint. Police say statements have been recorded which include the victim’s wife, medical officials and villagers, prior to the victim’s passing. The funding has been re-allocated from its existing programs from the Sugar Industry and Agriculture sector. According to industry records, approximately 4.6 million litres of diesel fuel was utilized by lorries, locomotives, mechanical harvesters, and tractors for harvesting and carting cane in the 2025 season.
