On October 28, JICA President Tanaka Akihiko met with President Surangel S. Whipps, Jr. of the Republic of Palau in Tokyo. At the outset, President Tanaka expressed his congratulations on the launch of direct flights between Narita, Japan and Palau starting October 29. In response, President Whipps expressed his gratitude for JICA’s cooperation in realizing direct flights. Both parties further exchanged views on the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) meeting to be held in Palau next year and ongoing fisheries development projects.
