A Fijian-national playing semi-professional rugby in Japan has just recently passed away. According to his club, Kyuden Voltex, Saimoni Vunilagi passed away on Friday to a suspected heart attack. The 26-year-old had only recently joined Kyuden Voltex after signing with the club last month. A 30-year-old man is the country’s latest road fatality victim. He died following a motor vehicle accident along Queens Road in Martintar, Nadi, just after 1 a.m. yesterday. Police say the man allegedly stepped onto the road suddenly before being struck by a vehicle driven by a 32-year-old man. More than two thousand plants believed to be marijuana have been seized in the Northern Division. The Northern Division Operations team discovered the Vatuyalewa mountain range. Chief of Operations ACP Kasiano Vusonilawe says officers also uprooted over 200 marijuana plants from a farm in Nasea, Tukavesi. [File Photo] An 18-year-old man has been remanded in custody over an alleged aggravated robbery at a shop in Nawaka, Nadi, earlier this month. Police allege the accused, together with another person, threatened a couple inside the shop before fleeing with cash, mobile phones and clothing. The accused appeared before the Nadi Magistrates Court on Friday, where he was charged with one count of aggravated robbery. Fixtures for the upcoming Cricket Fiji Super 8 Championship have been finalized, with matches set to get underway on Tuesday.
