Aircalin’s first Airbus A350-900 has entered final assembly at Airbus’ Toulouse-Blagnac facility, marking a key step towards strengthening its long-haul fleet.

The aircraft’s vertical tail has already been painted in Aircalin’s new livery, featuring the hibiscus flower, the airline’s emblem.

The A350-900 is scheduled for delivery in December 2026 and will gradually enter commercial service on Aircalin’s long-haul routes.

The aircraft will become the first A350-900 in Aircalin’s fleet and will support its Nouméa-Paris route, while improving connectivity to destinations including Bangkok.

It will carry up to 325 passengers and offer 15 tonnes of cargo capacity, supporting tourism and trade opportunities for New Caledonia.

Aircalin says the aircraft will improve efficiency, reducing fuel consumption by up to 25 percent compared with the A330neo.

The aircraft will also provide enhanced passenger comfort through quieter cabins, improved air quality and updated onboard technology.

Preparation for the aircraft’s arrival has been underway since 2025, with pilots, cabin crew, maintenance teams and ground staff undergoing specialised training.

Aircalin says the A350 project will create 150 local jobs by 2028 and strengthen New Caledonia’s international connectivity.
