FC Barcelona 5-1 Córdoba: Comfortable win at the Palau

A fifth consecutive home win for the blaugranes came in the form of a 5-1 success over Córdoba at the Palau in the league. A brace from Matheus and goals from Adolfo, Sergio González and Antonio were enough to see Javi Rodríguez’s team move back to the top of the table with El Pozo still to play this weekend.

Solid at the back, clinical up front

Barça set out their stall early on, putting in an impressive defensive display to leave rivals Córdoba with few options coming forward. In attack, the blaugranes took the lead inside 6 minutes with Adolfo finishing off a move involving Martel and Sergio González. Keeper Miquel Feixas kept the visitors at bay with a couple of good saves and just before the break Córdoba lost Zequi to a sending off.

Barça immediately took advantage and Matheus made it 2-0 just seconds before half time. Almost straight from the restart Matheus added a third for the home side as Barça appeared to be coasting to victory. A goal Pescio brought Córdoba back to life but it was short lived as a minute later Sergio González rounded off a good team move to make it 4-1.

Five in a row at the Palau

Another dismissal for Córdoba opened up a path for Antonio to make it 5-1 and seal an impressive for the blaugranes, their fifth in a row at home. A sixth could come when they take on Cartagena in a few weeks’ time in the Palau in their next home game.
