Taipei, Dec. 18 (CNA) Taiwan’s Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) departed Taipei on Thursday for a four-day visit to Palau, along with several Taiwanese business representatives, to explore opportunities for further collaboration with the Pacific ally, according to his ministry.

The delegation, led by Lin, includes representatives from Taiwan’s tourism, medical, and green energy sectors, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said in a press release.

During the delegation’s visit from Thursday to Sunday, the two countries will review their investment and business cooperation over the past year and discuss future collaboration, MOFA said.

As Taiwan prepares to participate in the 2026 Pacific Islands Forum hosted by Palau, the delegation will highlight Taiwan’s strengths in innovative technology, smart medicine, digital resilience, and sustainable development, the foreign ministry said.

Palau and Taiwan have maintained formal diplomatic ties since 1999, with the Pacific island nation remaining one of Taiwan’s 12 allies worldwide.
