The Municipality of Tempio will no longer be the implementing body for the redevelopment of a section of the Tempio-Aglientu-Palau state road (SS 133, amounting to 22 million euros).

The regional councilor for Public Works, Antonio Piu , decided this with a provision that effectively removes the Tempio administration’s mandate to carry out the work.

The regional council’s decision is the consequence of a note sent by the Municipality of Tempio , following the inauguration of mayor Gianna Masu , in which the Tempio administrators asked the region to suspend the intervention.

The regional council, led by President Alessandra Todde, responded that this is an important project for the local road network , agreed upon with other municipalities in the area. Furthermore, the regional council also noted that the project is already underway.

The first reaction to Councilor Antonio Piu’s decision came from Aglientu Mayor Marco Demuro , who welcomed the regional government’s decision. Demuro stated: “We are deeply satisfied with the decision of the Regional Council and the Councilor for Public Works. It is an act of great institutional responsibility. This project is the result of serious, shared, and strategic territorial planning, carried out over the years by all the administrations of Alta Gallura. This is not just a strip of asphalt, but the backbone of a specific project: to quickly and safely connect the interior with the coast, joining the Limbara River to the sea to create economic development, integrated tourism, and efficient services for all the citizens of Alta Gallura.”

Demuro continues: “The intention expressed to the Region by the current Tempio Pausania administration in a note dated July 14th, requesting suspension of the project, represents a serious institutional affront . The request not to continue as the implementing body for the project is entirely legitimate, but disregarding established agreements and already approved plans (without even initiating discussions) is a disrespect not only to the Region and neighboring municipalities, but to the entire territory, which has long awaited the modernization of this road network.”

He concludes: “Public administration requires a comprehensive vision, continuity, and above all ongoing dialogue, not a clean slate dictated by partisan logic or mere attention-seeking. I thank the Region for defending the wisdom of a strategic choice and for demonstrating that the resources planned for the integrated development of our communities cannot be subject to arbitrary reconsiderations. Aglientu will continue to monitor with determination to ensure that the work proceeds without further delays or reconsiderations. Our region deserves modern infrastructure and reliable solutions.”
