Official election results show Rechemang receiving 161 of the 237 votes cast. Ongerang Rengiil finished second with 52 votes, while James Maidesil received 23 votes.

The special election was held following the resignation of former Ngeremlengui Legislator Bitlaol Wasisang, who stepped down with approximately 18 months remaining in his term, creating a vacancy for one of the state’s at-large legislative seats.

After certification yesterday, Rechemang will be sworn in and will serve the remainder of Wasisang’s term in the 11th Ngeremlengui Legislature, which has about a year and a half remaining.
