Overview:

Palau’s tourism sector is riding a wave of momentum heading into the second half of 2026, with visitor arrivals on pace to hit 80,000 to 85,000 for the year. The Palau Visitors Authority credits a diversified market mix — from surging Asian arrivals to steady North American and European demand — plus expanded airline capacity for the sustained rebound.

KOROR, Palau (July 13, 2026)  Palau’s tourism industry is on track for another year of solid recovery, with visitor arrivals expected to climb significantly if current trends hold through the rest of 2026.

The Palau Visitors Authority said recent arrival data show steady growth across multiple source markets, led by strong gains from Asia and continued demand from North America and Europe. Officials noted that if current momentum continues into the second half of 2026, Palau could approach roughly 80,000 to 85,000 visitor arrivals for the year, marking another step in the country’s post-pandemic tourism recovery.

Tourism leaders say the rebound reflects a broader mix of visitors rather than reliance on a single market. Increased airline capacity from regional hubs, combined with targeted marketing and renewed interest in Palau’s marine and cultural attractions, has helped support the upward trend.

The projected full-year total would build on the gains recorded in 2025, when visitor numbers began to stabilize after several years of global travel disruption. While officials remain cautious about external risks, they say early 2026 performance suggests Palau is moving toward a more sustainable level of tourism activity.

“Palau’s recovery is not just about returning to pre-pandemic numbers,” the authority said in a statement. “It is about attracting visitors who value our environment, culture and community, and ensuring that tourism growth aligns with long-term sustainability goals.”

Government and industry partners say they will continue to monitor market conditions and work with airlines, travel trade and local stakeholders to maintain the country’s tourism momentum through the remainder of the year.
